AMIR ALI + LOOMLAB = O3TSM
A note from LOOMLAB founder, Jane Henry

I first met Amir when he signed on to participate in The Pixel Project – a LOOMLAB sponsored collaboration between artists of multiple backgrounds and talents that came together to create a cohesive piece of art. Immediately, Amir and his work stood out from the crowd.

The artwork he presented was intuitive and provocative, intricate and meticulous. We began discussing the possibility of turning his extraordinary art into something more. This discussion ultimately spawned three designs that encompass the story behind the art.

O3TSM promotes the notion that the mind is far too expansive and wondrous a thing to be held captive. Unconfined thinking is crucial when trying to fully express and maintain one's unique identity and point of view. Amir maintained his sanity while incarcerated by keeping his mind busy by drawing. In a unique collaboration, LOOMLAB and Amir have breathed new life into his drawings by raising them off of the page and onto beautifully crafted scarves.

GOGI
Getting Out by Going In (GOGI) is dedicated to empowering incarcerated men, women and children with the necessary tools it takes to make positive decisions. Amir Ali first came into contact with GOGI when assisting a detained man with his immigration case. Impressed with this inmates commitment to positive decisions, Ali inquired and was introduced to GOGI founder, Coach Mara Leigh Taylor.

Amir knows first hand the journey of internal freedom. The O3TSM collection supports GOGI and Coach Taylor’s work by donating 10% of all sales to the expansion of the GOGI Correspondence program which affords any inmate the opportunity for self study of the Twelve Tools of GOGI.
